Vallee des montagnes blanches
Jewel of the Saguenay−Lac-Saint-Jean and Quebec North Shore regions

The Quebec North Shore and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean present diverse ecosystems rich in biodiversity. Among the wonders of these regions lies the “Vallée des Montagnes Blanches,” located North-West of Lake Manouane. This picturesque valley is home to one of the last large intact forests south of the logging limit. Drained by the rivers Montagnes Blanches, Betsiamite and Aux Outardes, this valley contains critical habitat for woodland caribou, which depend on large, intact old-growth forests for their survival. Woodland caribou are an indicator of a healthy forest, and by protecting their habitat we are ensuring the protection of this threatened species and many others living within the same habitat.
