Pascagama

The richness of intact boreal ecosystem

Located at the North-West of the Gouin reservoir between the Abitibi-Témiscamingue, North of Quebec and Mauricie regions, remains one of the last intact forest south of 50°. Lying between the Pascagama and Megiscane Rivers, this unfragmented forest with high biodiversity illustrates the richness of the boreal kingdom.  Real paradise for Touladi fishing, this vast territory of more than 7 400 km² is the traditional home of the Atikamekw and Algonquin Nations, and is also shared with hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts that visit each year. Attracted by the beauty of the land, hunters, fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts realised the rareness of this intact boreal ecosystem. While almost 90 % of the Pascagama is still intact, it swims in a sea of industrial development.
